Trump should give farmers bailout to avoid mass bankruptcy and stilumate consumption

Not just US businesses  might suffer catastrophe from the tariffs as they lack the savings and profits to endure months and years until the gain comes from the pain if it ever comes.

Free cash grants can be distributed to farmers using money printed in the Treasury for no cost on the basis of a law to Congress or an Executive Order to ensure farmers get the money they need to adjust and make investments at a cost they can afford.

They cannot afford more bank loans and interest rates.

Plus, farmers given bailouts will likely spend a large amount on consumption and not just on paying off debts and savings.

Stimulating consumption is what Trump needs to do.

Emergency hotlines have to be set up so the Trump admin gets as instant feedback as possible and can make instant adjustments giving cash where needed, exempting products where needed, raising tariffs where needed with inflation monitoring.

The American taxpayer ended up paying farmers about $23 billion during the first Trump administration’s trade war with China. Trump’s new tariffs could push that number far higher, if he decides to protect the agriculture industry.

This quiet acknowledgement that Trump’s tariffs could be calamitous to farmers, likely requiring billions to offset their losses, would appear to destroy his claims that tariffs will enrich the government’s coffers. A top aide, Peter Navarro, has claimed, in what has been described as “Orwellian” remarks, that tariffs are a “tax cut.”
