Rapid advances in technology are producing completely new possibilities for methods of warfare. And one method of warfare might be a blockade of a country s or bloc s air space.
On Sunday, Greece may have been the first country to be subjected to a blockade of its airspace. The reasons for thinking that the airspace was deliberately blockaded through the creation of a communications black hole are growing.
They include the way a piercing noise was heard. Noise is used in jamming of communications.

For a few tense hours on Sunday morning, Greek skies turned into a communications black hole. Air traffic controllers for Athens airport were guiding planes toward the runway when the usual radio chatter suddenly vanished – replaced by a piercing whistle.
It quickly became clear that controllers had lost contact with most aircraft in Greek airspace, including dozens of incoming flights, according to two controllers and an aviation official on duty at the time.

But even more telling is that that all the communications and internet systems failed across the board at the same time. And they came back on of their own accord at the same time. This, without any repairs.
The cause of the blackout had not, and still has not been, found.
That means, it can happen again.
Greek authorities were taken completely by surprise. They are clerly dealing with a phenomena which is not just unprecedented but unexpected and inexplicable to them suggesting a knowledge black hole, a deficiency of knowledge about new jamming techniques.

"Internet systems also appeared to fail across the board. Even the civil aviation authority’s press office resorted to reading statements over the phone rather than sending by email.
.... but the cause remains unknown – and officials admit the systems didn’t get fixed, they simply came back on their own.
“Suddenly communications went down. You could only hear a high-pitched whistle,” said one controller, speaking on condition of anonymity. “The thing is, we don’t know what caused it and how it ended. We want to find out the exact cause to ensure once and for all that this will not happen again.”
How often does a car packed with electronics, like say a Tesla, cease to function altogether, and then after a period of hours, start functioning normally, and without any repairs? The immediate suspicion would be the Tesla was hacked and hijacked electronically.
All things considered, it looks very much like an actor has acquired the capacity to turn on and off Greece s radio frequencies and jam a country s airspace at will.
The implications of such a technology are enormous and they go well beyond Greece.
For sure the communications black hole impacted civilian aircraft in countries around Greece, including Turkey and Israel.
But the possibility is that the airspace of other countries like the UK, Israel, Germany or France or even all Europe, and even possibly the USA could be shut down suddenly and for a long period.
And the possibility is that the communications system of military aircraft could be jammed, though this did not happen in Greece, according to the media.
“We had a black hole in Greek airspace,” said aviation safety expert Faithon Karaiosifidis. “Imagine if it had happened in the summer at the peak of the tourist season. The chaos.”
An air blockade imposed on Greece or Europe for just a few days could seriously disrupt travel and trade and the transport of goods with severe economic consequences.
Tens of millions of people fly to Greece just for holidays with about a million total flights according to AI
If a blaockade happened at the peak of the tourist season and were to last weeks, it would wreck the Greek economy, heavily reliant on tourist revenue.
A country like Israel which relies disportoionately on air travel would be especially affected by the jamming of its airspace.
So would the UK as an island, reliant on air travel and the Eurostar, itself subject to disruptions.
Airports like Paris, Madrid, Istanbul, Frankfurt and Amsterdam and Heathrow are also international air traffic gateways.
Air blockades could be more effective than naval blockades in 2026.
Mitsotakis government has been eager to downplay the possibiltity that Greek airspace was jammed despite admitting they do not know the cause. This may because Mitsotakis does not want the Greek people to realize that his foreign policy decision have put the Greeks in jeopardy and put the country in the cross hairs of powerful actors who want to oust Mitsotakis known in Russia and China for his crimes against a reporter as per D 15 218 and E 17 449 and the cover up and known for his war mongering against Russia as well as his mafia tactics in support of the Western oligarchy led by Soros,, Rothschild, Gates, Kushner and Trump.

The outage, which lasted several hours and affected most of Greece’s airports, stranded thousands of travelers. Authorities have ruled out a cyberattack, but the cause remains unknown – and officials admit the systems didn’t get fixed, they simply came back on their own.

Controllers managed to identify a couple of working radio frequencies in the tower, but not enough to maintain safe communication with pilots, a senior official said. Within half an hour, Greece took the unprecedented step of suspending flights into and across its airspace.
Air traffic controllers from across the region stepped in to help. A controller in a neighboring country said most communication with Greece was done over the telephone because the usual radios were down.
