The warning comes amid reports Russia is seeking to disconnect the Ukraine s nuclear power plants by strikes on its substations to destroy the last remaining source of heat and power.

Moscow is planning to strike substations connected to Ukraine’s three active nuclear plants in western and southern Ukraine to completely disconnect Ukrainians from heat and power, Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) warned on Jan. 17.
Ukrainians across the country are already grappling with limited power and heating as Russia decimates Ukraine's energy facilities. But disconnecting its nuclear power plants would take the crisis one step further — Ukrainians would be fully cut off from electricity and heating in subzero temperatures.

"Electricity is needed at nuclear plants for safety reasons, such as reactor cooling systems. If an active plant is disconnected, it then relies on backup diesel generators to keep operating. If those generators fail, a nuclear meltdown can happen in hours.
Russia's months-long campaign against Ukraine's energy infrastructure has led to controlled power outages across the country to avoid overloading the grid, leaving millions without power. As the crisis worsened, the government announced a state of emergency in the energy sector on Jan. 14.
Russia hasn't directly targeted Ukraine's nuclear power plants, which are operated by state-owned firm Energoatom. But Russia has damaged and destroyed most of Ukraine's other generation facilities, including thermal power and hydroelectric plants."
The consequences for the civilian population are already and will continue to be dreadful.

To downplay the Oreshnik s destructive power especially when armed with a nuclear weapon is a huge mistakewhen the future of the Ukraine and Europe as well as the US could depend on assessing this weapon correctly.
The future of Starmer, Merz and co depend on a correct assessemnt of its power.
Yet, an MIT professor platformed by Glenn Diesen made a risible presentation of the Oreshnik to underplay its effect.
Just after an Oreshnik missile with a dummy warhead hit Western Ukraine, an emergency evacuation of Kiev was ordered.
That unprecedented order was an indication of just how much damage that missle wrecked on a gigantic gas storage site.

The Zelensky regime has not given any details of the actual damge, Pictures of the impact, damage have not been released. The strike has been veiled in secrecy by Zelensky.
All Zelensky s regime released are photos of unidentificable twisted metal.
But MIT professor Theodore Postol focuses almost excluseively on what may well be some fake photos to conclude the Oreshnik is hype in an interview with Glenn Diesen.
Diesen does not cross quesitons Postol for his selective use of evidence or ask about his qualifications for discussing this weapon when the US does not have any similar hypersonic missile and when the Pentagon has admitted China can sink every aircraft carrier in 20 minutes using such missiles.

Once again - just ask yourselves, why there is no any photos from both sites of destruction? Why usually bragging ukranians went all silent about it in both cases? Telling nothing at all. And only offical conmented was a Mayor guy of Lviv city, at outskirts of which the second strike was hit few days ago. His very words were that " there are horrendous level of damages, I ve never seen that before". That was only words he said, after that he went all silent too, obviously was prihibited to tell anything further. Professor is wrong - it s very horrible weapon, having tremendous speed and because of that speed itself inflicting terrible destruction to any target it hits.
