Dmitry Medvedev has threatened Volodymyr Zelensky with death on Telegram after Russia claimed that Ukraine launched a drone attack on one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's official residences.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov alleged that Ukraine launched a drone attack on Putin's state residence in Novgorod region on the night of Dec. 29. 

The Russian military has refused to reveal if Putin was at the residence or details of the attack for security reasons.

"I will not write here about his violent death, although right now the Grim Reaper is breathing down the scoundrel's neck," Medvedev said.

In Zelensky's Christmas speech, he indirectly mentioned Putin's death.

"It is clear to everyone that he wishes death not only to 'one person', but to all of us and our country. And not only does he wish it, he also ordered massive attacks,"  Medvedev said.

Medvedev accused Zelenskyy of "trying to derail the settlement of the conflict," referring to the ongoing U.S.-sponsored peace talks.

"He wants war. Well, now at least he'll have to stay in hiding for the rest of his worthless life," Medvedev wrote.

Tellingly, Zelensky imemdiately phoned ex Blackrock lawyer and war hawk Friedrich Merz after the attack on Putin.
