Postal voting delays have affected at least a quarter of marginal constituencies, analysis by The Telegraph reveals.

As many as 120 have been affected by the chaos – either printing delays, delivery delays or voters requesting that their ballots be re-sent because they have not received them – according to the councils responsible for administering the election.

Of these seats, 34 have a majority of less than 5 per cent. They make up one in four of the 129 marginal constituencies being decided in Thursday’s general election.

The most marginal constituencies include St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, which is predicted to go to the Liberal Democrats but is being contested for the Conservatives by Anthony Browne; Old Bexley and Sidcup, which is expected to be held by the Tories; and Kilmarnock and Loudoun, which is predicted to return the SNP candidate.
