The population of Greece was 10.43 million in 2022.
To sustain the population, women have to give birth to 2.1 babies.
Replacement fertility is the total fertility rate at which women give birth to enough babies to sustain population levels, assuming that mortality rates remain constant and net migration is zero.[10] If replacement level fertility is sustained over a sufficiently long period, each generation will exactly replace itself.[10] The replacement fertility rate is 2.1 births per female for most developed countries (2.1 in the United Kingdom, for example), but can be as high as 3.5 in undeveloped countries because of higher mortality rates, especially child mortality.[11] The global average for the replacement total fertility rate, eventually leading to a stable global population, for the contemporary period, 2010–2015, is 2.3 children per female.[11][12]
The number of babies being born must be about equal to the number of people dying.
But in 2022, the number of babies born was the lowest in 100 years at 77,000!
In 2022, the country recorded less than 77,000 births, the lowest in almost a century, while deaths nearly doubled that number, reaching 140,000. Nothing seems to indicate that this trend will change anytime soon.

In 25 years, if 77,000 babies continue to be born, it will equal less than 2 million people.
In 50 years, less than 4 million people.
In 75 years, about 5.5 million people.
In 100 years, about 7 million people.
But here is the catch.
This assumes that all the 77,000 people born every year manage a replacement rate of 2.1 births per woman.
The current rate is 1.4 children per women.

If this is the rate at which the 77,000 new births have children, then there will be about 50,000 children born to them and about 35,000 children to that year and about 25,000 to that year and about 17 000 to that year and so on.
So within 10 years at this exponential decay rate there will be ZERO Greeks born.
